Assessment

March 2019 News:

We received notification from the New Jersey Department of Education that our current Juniors (SBHS Class of 2020) will not participate in this year's spring state testing. The NJSLA-ELA and end of course math assessments (Geometry, Algebra II) will not be administered to Juniors this year. Students in Grades 9 & 10 will be expected to test as planned. The graduation requirements still remain unchanged since our last communication.

January 2019 News:

The revised NJSLA Spring 2019 calendar has been updated. Check the calendar from the left toolbar.

On December 31, 2018 the New Jersey Appellate court ruling reversed the requirement that students must pass Algebra I and English Language Arts state assessments in order to graduate high school. Please note that this ruling will not take effect for 30 days, giving the state Department of Education time to appeal to the state Supreme Court, should it choose. Additionally, all public schools need to continue to abide by the current guidelines for this time period, and/or until an official state memo from the Department of Education is sent to school districts with further clarification and with any new guidelines to enact.
