Vision: To provide a continuum of highly effective, person-centered special education programs and support services with a commitment to inclusion.

The District provides a full continuum of special education programs and related services for students between the ages of 3 and 21 who have been identified as eligible for special education services.  Supervisors and teachers work together to design and implement appropriate curricula, learning objectives, instructional strategies and interventions in an effort to best educate students with special needs. 

Some of the options include: consultation services, in-class support, in-class resource, resource center programs and self-contained programs.  All programs are taught by highly qualified special education teachers that provide academic and behavioral support to children in accordance with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). 

The District also partners with members of the school community to offer support to families of students with disabilities through the Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG), which serves as a resource to answer questions, address concerns and provide information. Meetings focus on various topics of mutual concern and interest

Child Study Teams (CST) consist of a psychologist, a social worker, and a learning disabilities teacher/consultant (LDT/C). The CST completes initial evaluations, reevaluations, determines eligibility, and develops IEPs for students. This multidisciplinary team ensures compliance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and provides school staff with support to successfully implement IEP.  The CST also provides case management and collaborates closely with parents to monitor progress and appropriateness of services and programming.
