Disable Chat in a Zoom Meeting

Disabling in-meeting chat prevents participants from sharing any clickable links to malicious websites, or otherwise disruptive messaging.

To disable chat features by default for all meetings:

Sign in at https://zoom.us, click Settings > Meeting > In Meeting (Basic).

Disabling the Chat option also disables Private Chat (confirm if prompted), so you can disable Private Chat separately if desired.  Chat features can not be re-enabled during a meeting, and will be unavailable to the host as well.

To disable chat features during a meeting:

In the Zoom meeting window, click Chat, then in the Chat window, click the button marked [ … ] for more options.

Select Participant Can Chat With: No One, to prevent any messaging from participants.  The host is still able to send messages to any or all participants.
