Special Education Services_archived

The District provides a full continuum of appropriate special education programs and related services for students between the ages of 3 and 21 who have been identified as eligible for special education services. Supervisors and teachers work together to design and implement appropriate curricula, learning objectives, instructional strategies and interventions in an effort to best educate students with special needs.

Some of the options include: consultation services, in-class support, resource center programs and self-contained classes. All programs are taught by highly qualified special education teachers that provide academic and behavioral support to children in accordance with their Individualized Education Plan.

The District also partners with members of the school community to offer support to families of students with disabilities through the Special Education Parent Advisory Group, which serves as a resource to answer questions, address concerns and provide information. Meetings focus on various topics of mutual concern and interest.
