School Year Information

The South Brunswick School District has instituted a Covid-19 screening process for visitors and vendors who arrive at our schools. As we see increased activity at our schools the district is doing everything it can to maintain premises with only students and essential staff. Visitors and vendors wishing to meet with a district staff member will be allowed access to a school or administration building only after making an appointment and only when a meeting cannot be conducted over the phone or video conferenced on a computer. All visitors and vendors with an appointment will be screened for symptoms and history of exposure to COVID-19 prior to entering the interior of any school or administrative building Thank you for your tremendous support and cooperation.

Dear Families,

As we begin the year with virtual instruction, I wanted to articulate the vision of this remote model. If you listened in on any forum or read the information on our district website, you know that we are looking at remote instruction differently than the Spring. The 2020-2021 school year begins on Tuesday, September 8th with a set schedule for students and a plan for daily instruction from their teachers. Students are expected to attend their classes daily and adhere to all virtual instruction expectations. We learned a lot from our experience in the Spring and have put together district virtual expectations that we are asking all students and families to adhere to. We want to provide and cultivate the most optimal learning experience for our students and feel these expectations will help all students and families start the school year with much success!

District Virtual Expectations

You can access the virtual expectations here and please view the attached video for a more interactive explanation of the expectations. Additionally, for those students in high school, please see this document for some further explanation to the expectations.

Other resources for your convenience are a district created website completely for SEL..you can find it here. We have also added a button to our district homepage called ‘20-’21 Instruction where you can locate up-to-date information regarding remote instruction.

Once school begins, your child’s teacher will help to practice these expectations and work with families to acclimate to this virtual instructional world we are embracing!

Many thanks,

Jennifer Diszler

Dear Families,

There is much anticipation as to how the 2020-2021 school year will start! By now, you have gone into Genesis to complete the survey on learning and tech needs. We have made the decision to begin our school year at a Phase 4 - A Limited Model where students begin with remote learning, however on day 1, some students will access the buildings through Remote Learning Centers (RLC), where students will come into school to do their remote learning under the supervision of staff.

With only a few weeks left in August, we wanted to share with you general supply lists for each level. These lists have some specificity to the grade level, but please be aware that teachers might connect with you in September for some specific items for their class. In addition, your school will give clear directions for textbook and material distribution for the opening weeks of school.

Generally speaking, ALL students should have the following items for learning no matter their level:
Headphones or Earbuds
Chromebook or Laptop - If you need a device, this should have been indicated in Genesis
Cloth face covering (this should be readily available for opportunities to come onsite as the Fall progresses) Please see the CDC guidelines or this article for help in choosing a mask.

Please click on the link below for your child’s level for school supplies:

Many thanks for your patience and understanding. Enjoy these last weeks of Summer!!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Diszler
