THANK YOU TO ALL MY DELTA STUDENTS!  YOU ALL MADE THIS YEAR SO MEMORABLE AND FULFILLING.  EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HELPED ME GROW AS A TEACHER AND SHOWED ME HOW INCREDIBLE YOU ALL ARE.  FROM YOUR HUMOR TO YOUR INTELLIGENCE TO YOUR GOOFINESS, YOU BRIGHTENED MY DAY EACH AND EVERY DAY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WASN'T ALWAYS EASY.  I AM TRULY AMAZED AT THE AMOUNT OF TALENT I HAD IN MY CLASSROOM THIS YEAR!

An Inconvenient Truth


Concluding Assignment


DUE DATE: END OF CLASS THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 2010.
    
After viewing and discussing the content of Inconvenient Truth and following your evaluation of your personal impact on global warming, I am asking you to complete one of the following assignments to demonstrate your understanding of the movie and topic.
 
Each option must include the following:
o    A description/definition of global warming
o    Natural and Human causes
o    Identify the human impact in global ecosystems and food chains through pollution and global climate change
o    Actions to stop global warming


Option A:  Write a 1-2 paragraph essay summarizing the above areas and include what you will do to help the reduction of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere.  Be sure to use strong verbs, descriptive adjectives and all other effective writing techniques.

Option B:  Create a poster, collage or computer generated homepage that communicates the above topics to students your age.  Use advertising techniques learned in writing to persuade your audience to make changes in their lives and take action.

Option C:  Write at least 2 letters (or emails) to one or more government representatives sharing what you have learned and what you want them to do to stop global warming.  Must include above elements and use of persuasive techniques to convince the official to take action.  The official may be anyone from the local town council to the state legislators to Governor Christie to congress and the senate, all the way to President Obama.
