IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dear Crossroads Music Families,

Welcome to the 2010 - 2011 School Year! We are looking forward to the return of our many music students and are excited to meet the new members of our department.

Due to the budget constraints that the school district must deal with this year, our middle music program will experience several changes. Transportation and stipends for our before school band and orchestra program have been reduced by 50 percent. We will no longer be able to run rehearsals 5-days each week before school for the entire school year. However, we will run rehearsals to prepare for our performances before school, 4-days a week, with transportation during the following time periods:

In addition, due to the loss of two instrumental music teachers, concert band offerings will be reduced from 3-concert band in each middle school to two concert bands. Students will be placed in either the Concert Band or Symphonic Band. The Wind Symphonies will no longer exist. Our orchestra program remains as it has been in the past. Band and orchestra teachers will be running sectional rehearsals before school, beginning in the middle of September. These rehearsals will be communicated through your child’s director and we hope we can count on parents to provide transportation to these rehearsals.

Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble auditions will take place in mid-September. We will be counting on parents to provide transportation for before school rehearsals from the beginning of October until October 25, 2010, and from January until March 14, 2011.

The Crossroads North and South music teachers are committed to continuing the outstanding instruction and experiences that they have provided their students in the past and look forward to a strong home and school partnership during the 2010 – 2011 school year.
