In December, instrumental music students performed their winter musical selections in two separate concerts for both the South Brunswick and Crossroads South communities. Seventh grader Matthew Cohen received the Westminster Conservatory of Music scholarship.
In January, the Jazz Band received the rating of “Superior” at the Nottingham High School Jazz Band Festival. Gopal Narsimhamurthy was selected as outstanding soloist. Jae Moon successfully auditioned for the Central Jersey Region II Orchestra.
February saw 830 candles and 1,382 pizza kits delivered to Crossroads South and a team of Music Parents distributed all of them to their rightful owners.
The production of Bye, Bye Birdie took place in March with an all middle school pit orchestra. You had to see it to believe it!
In May, the Vocal Ensemble performed in the New Jersey Middle School Choral Festival at Rowan University, the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Band performed in the Willingboro Jazz Band Festival and we hosted the Central Jersey Middle School Concert Band Festival.
In June, 350 students participated in our Choral/Jazz concert to a standing-room only audience. On June 4 – 5, we took 12 buses and an entourage of 486 students, teachers and chaperones to our annual junket to Hershey Park with the results as follows:
- Concert Orchestra received an EXCELLENT rating and 3rd place in the Middle School Division.
- Symphonic Orchestra received an EXCELLENT rating and 1st place in the Junior High Division.
- Jazz Ensemble received an SUPERIOR rating and 2nd place in the Middle School Division.
- Jazz Band received a SUPERIOR rating and 1st place in the Junior High Division.
- Concert Band received an EXCELLENT rating and 2nd place in the Middle School Concert Band II Division.
- Symphonic Band received an EXCELLENT rating and 4th place in the Middle School Division.
- Wind Symphony received an EXCELLENT rating and 1st place in the Junior High Division.
- Concert Choir received a SUPERIOR rating and 2nd Place in the Middle School Division.
- Vocal Ensemble received a SUPERIOR rating and 1st Place in the Junior High Division.
- Robert Kang received an Outstanding Accompanist Award.
And, on June 10, 2004, we present our Annual Spring Concert. Seventh grader Ryan Donato won the Westminster Conservatory of Music scholarship.
