October brought much excitement as our Crossroads eighth graders joined up with the South Brunswick High School Marching and performed during the half time festivities.
In December, instrumental music students performed their winter musical selections in two separate concerts for both the South Brunswick and Crossroads communities.
In January, the Jazz Band received the rating of "Superior" at the Nottingham High School Jazz Band Festival. B.J. Olson was selected as outstanding soloist. Pelu Tran and Joseph Wong successfully auditioned for the Central Jersey Region II Orchestra.
February saw 1,381 pizza kits delivered to Crossroads and a team of Music Parents distributed all of them to their rightful owners. Some even by car!
The production of Li'L Abner took place in March with an all middle school pit orchestra. You had to see it to believe it!
In April, the Jazz Band functioned as the "house band" for two nights at the annual Crossroads Middle School Talent Show.
On May 17-18, we took 7 buses and an entourage of 410 students, teachers and chaperones to our annual junket to Hershey Park with the results as follows:
- Orchestra received a SUPERIOR rating and 2nd place in the Middle School Division.
- Jazz Ensemble received an EXCELLENT rating and 1st place in the Middle School Division.
- Jazz Band received a SUPERIOR rating and 1st place in the Junior High Division.
- Jazz Band received the JUDGES CHOICE award for OUTSTANDING JAZZ BAND.
- Concert Band received an EXCELLENT rating and 1st place in the Middle School Concert Band II Division.
- Symphonic Band received an EXCELLENT rating and 2nd place in the Middle School Division.
- Wind Symphony received an EXCELLENT rating and 1st place in the Junior High Division.
- Concert Choir received a SUPERIOR rating and 1st Place in the Middle School Division.
- Vocal Ensemble received a SUPERIOR rating and 1st Place in the Junior High Division.
- Nina Yiamsamatha received the OUTSTANDING VOCAL SOLOIST AWARD.
- Youn-Jin An received the OUTSTANDING ACCOMPANIST AWARD.
- Concert Choir received the JUDGES CHOICE award for OUTSTANDING CHOIR.
And, on May 30, we presented to you our Annual Spring Concert! Seventh grader, Katherine Toma, received our Westminster Conservatory of Music Scholarship.
