The P.A.T.T.E.R.N.S. program is an independent reading program that encourages students to read books outside of their required course reading. Students may choose from the fiction, non-fiction, or challenging choice genres and are required to complete three P.A.T.T.E.R.N.S. forms per trimester. These forms ask students to summarize the reading and recall important aspects of the book. After each marking period, there is a school-wide assembly to highlight the reading accomplishments of the kids. The forms are used as “lottery tickets” and the students can win prized that are supplied by the PTO. All in all, it is a fun celebration of reading and a valuable educational experience!
