Mission Statement MISSION OF SOUTH BRUNSWICK SCHOOLS
The South Brunswick Public Schools will prepare students to be lifelong learners,
critical thinkers, effective communicators, and wise decision-makers. The schools
will maintain an environment which promotes intellectual challenge, creativity,
social, and emotional growth, and the healthy physical development of each student.
SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
We recognize our children as individuals with specific needs, and we strive to
provide a strong educational program that meets those needs at each step of development.
We believe that providing our students with a supportive academic environment
will help to develop self-confidence, pride in accomplishment, and desire to
strive towards excellence. We encourage risk-taking, divergent thinking, and
problem-solving.
We encourage pride in our school by fostering an atmosphere of cooperation and
teamwork. Children share ideas, make suggestions, and help implement school-wide
projects.
GOALS
1. To provide a strong foundation in math, reading, and the language arts.
2. To help children explore and investigate the world through social sciences.
3. To help each child communicate orally and through written language.
4. To develop in children the ability to think logically and critically and to
be independent learners and problem solvers.
5. To provide children with numerous opportunities to explore the arts and to
appreciate the aesthetic expression of others.
6. To help students gain knowledge and understanding of the computer and its
uses.
7. To help children get along with one another and appreciate individuals.
8. To help children feel good about themselves and to be the best they can be.
9. To encourage students to become decision-makers by taking an active role in
the school community.
10. To help children develop their physical, cognitive and social skills, so
they recognize the value and necessity of continuing to use these skills throughout
their lifetime.
