Milk will also be sold separately for $.40.  Children who forget lunch/milk money will be asked to contact a parent to bring money to school or they can purchase lunch on credit and bring the money to school the next day.  On full days, students may go home for lunch only if a parent or guardian informs the office in writing and transports their child.

To insure a smooth and efficient lunch purchase, every student at Indian Fields will have a debit card, which contains his/her name and picture for easy identification.  Students who receive free or reduced lunch will follow the same procedure and be covered under the same card system.  The debit cards never leave the cafeteria; they will be stored in a locked closet.  Students who have ordered lunch will retrieve their card from a display cart, proceed through the lunch line, and turn in their card at the end of the line.  A Chartwells cafeteria employee will code the back of the card, indicating a lunch has been purchased.  This will alleviate the problem of lost tickets and will smooth the process of collecting lunch money.  In addition, it should prove to expedite the serving of lunch.  If your child purchases lunch, no matter how frequently or infrequently, he/she will be able to use this system. Please take time to read the following information, as it will guide you through the lunch process. If you have any questions, direct them to our Chartwells cafeteria coordinator at Indian Fields School.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: How many lunches should I purchase at one time?
Please order lunches in bulk.  Students may have up to 20 available lunches on their debit card.  It will be most helpful to order in large quantities (15 or 20).  Students may take as long as is necessary during this school year to use up their available lunch credits.

May I purchase lunches one at a time?
Single lunch purchases will not be available on the card.  Instead, if your child needs to purchase just one lunch, they will hold onto their money and bring the money with them to the cafeteria at which time they will purchase their lunch for cash.  The way the debit cards are set up, it would be helpful if you purchase your lunches in multiples of 5 (i.e. 5, 10, 15, or 20).  This may be repeated as often as necessary.

How will I know when my child is running out of credit?
If you have purchased lunches in bulk (15 or 20 at one time) you will receive a form letter indicating that your child has only three lunches available in credit.  At that time, it will be necessary for you to submit additional funds to be credited to their account.  You will not hear from Chartwells until that time; however, if you would like additional credits applied, you may submit a check at any time.  If you purchase 5 or 10 lunches at one time, please keep track of your child’s usage and send in funds when necessary.  In April and May, all students will receive updates of their accounts so that they may use up their lunch credits before the end of the year.

If my child has unused lunch credits at the end of June may I get a refund?
There will be no refunds available from Chartwells and credits may not be carried over to the next school year.  Therefore, as the end of the year approaches, you may want to purchase credits in smaller amounts (5 instead of 20) so that your child may use them up.

What if my child only buys lunch once in a while?
If your child buys lunch infrequently, he or she should still purchase a minimum of 5 lunches.  The lunch credits on the card will not expire until the last day of the school year in June.

What if my child has no credits available on their card and still needs to purchase lunch?
If your child expects to purchase lunch and has no available credit, we will serve lunch to your  school day.

What if my child only purchases milk?  What if my child usually brings money for snack?
This system will not affect children who purchase milk or snacks on a daily basis.  The procedure will remain the same – cash for purchase.

What do I do now?
If your child would like to purchase lunch, please send in a check or cash as follows:
