How long should this really be taking? In general, the Indian Fields guideline for fifth grade homework is 60-90 minutes. Remember this is an average, some nights will be less and some will be more. Each weeknight you can expect your child to have spelling, novel/language arts, and math homework. Occasionally, you will see science or social studies as well. If your child is working for 90 minutes and still is not able to finish their work on a regular basis, please let me know so that I can figure out why it is taking so long and make adjustments. Please check work for completion, but do not correct all the mistakes. This allows me to see if your child is having any difficulties and how I can help. I sign assignment books every day and homework is left on the voicemail every afternoon.
What day is it?? CLICK HERE for a month at a glance of our IA schedule. Remember that sneakers are needed for gym and instruments for music.
While you were out… we keep working! If your child is absent and you would like to pick up work for them,
please call or email by 1:00PM. I will leave assignments at the reception desk after 2PM or send them home with a sibling as requested.
Did you forget your math book? Don’t panic - CLICK HERE and print your assignment from the textbook website. Remember your user name is your FirstnameLastname and your password is your initials followed by IF190.
“Today is your birthday…It’s my birthday too!”
Do you want to send in a birthday treat? No problem, simply call or email a few days ahead of time and let me know. Please do not just show up with treats. In general, we celebrate during our snack time. You can send in treats with your child or drop them off at the beginning of the school day. Please do NOT send in party invitations for your child to pass out. If you need a class list with addresses, send me an email and I will send one home with your child.
It’s the weekend and we don’t have a poem for Monday morning!!! Never fear…CLICK HERE to be taken to a great site for children’s poems!
Going once…going twice…going three times…sold! What’s THE AUCTION my child keeps talking about? Every week your child begins with 6 jewels. If your child does not have homework or is not behaving responsibly, they lose a jewel. On Friday, jewels are exchanged for tickets to be used in our auction. Valuable prizes include computer time, no 2x each for spelling, a chance to choose from the treasure chest, and much more!
