School Site Council PTA meeting The Greenbrook School School Site Council is a group of teachers, parents and community members entrusted with the task of academic goal setting. This school based management group gives the entire school community a voice in making important decisions which directly affect the quality of education in our school. The School Site Council acts as a liaison between parents, teachers, administrators and Board of Education members. It consists of six parents, five teachers and two school administrators. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Some projects which have been developed by the Council are Author's Night, K-2 Bedtime Story Hour, and Math, Science, and Technology Night.

School Site Council Meeting

·      Welcome and Happy New Year


Principal’s Report: Pat Holliday

·      Dr. Speesler absent.

·      Dr. Piegari, County Executive Superintendent, and his team performed the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (QSAC) visit on Jan. 5th.

·      Dr. Piegari stated we did well as a district.  He called us a “Lighthouse District”. 

·      The district documentation showed that we are in compliance with state guidelines in several key areas.  We will have another site visit in February to complete the monitoring process.  We will receive our official status report from the DOE in the spring

·      The QSAC team asked for feedback from the district team, such as:

         -How the process went

         -What did we learn from it?

         -What messages can they carry back to the DOE?



·      We held our first assembly today of the New Year.

·      Children returned from Holiday break very calm and made a smooth readjustment to the routines of school.

·      Our Winter Concert will be held on January 7th at 7:00 pm featuring our 4th and 5th grade orchestra, strings, band and choir.

·      There will be a Parent Academy workshop on January 27 at 7:00 pm in Crossroads North Cafeteria A.  The topic will be Bullying and Teasing.

·      January 18, 2010, South Brunswick schools will be closed in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

·      January 28, 2010 will be an early release day.


Future Events: Heather Fitzgerald

·      Math, Science & Tech Night on 3/11/10

·      Mrs. Waxman will put out an online reminder in two weeks.  Will still have hard copy available.


Author’s Night

·      May 20, 2010.

·      Will discuss details at a later date.


NJEA Grants

·      Mrs. Fitzgerald distributed handouts regarding HIPP grants at the meeting.

·      Mrs. Fitzgerald will be working at her school with her Principal to write a grant for peer tutoring for students and parents.  She is encouraging the GB staff or SSC to consider a proposal for this type of grant.
