School Site Council PTA meeting The Greenbrook School School Site Council is a group of teachers, parents and community members entrusted with the task of academic goal setting. This school based management group gives the entire school community a voice in making important decisions which directly affect the quality of education in our school. The School Site Council acts as a liaison between parents, teachers, administrators and Board of Education members. It consists of six parents, five teachers and two school administrators. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Some projects which have been developed by the Council are Author's Night, K-2 Bedtime Story Hour, and Math, Science, and Technology Night.

April 01, 2008 In Attendance: Susan Schatzman, Heather DeLollis, Judy Walters, Nancy Blanes, Lisa Carneglia, Ana Paranjpe, Cheryl Confalone, Myra Gildenberg, Pat Holliday, Gwen Waxman

Susan welcomed everyone and reminded us that our next meeting will be May 20. Cheryl Confalone will be presenting Healthy Choices for Kids at that meeting.

Pat reminded everyone that conferences are next week. This coming Thursday, April 3, is the District Music Festival, which will feature fifth through twelfth grade strings. We have some fifth graders who will be playing. It’s at the high school at 7 on Thursday.

The District Student Art Gallery will be held on April 29 in the South Brunswick High School Annex. Ms Macy will be informing parents next week whether their students’ work will be in the show. In addition, a committee chooses one student’s work from each school to be highlighted in the district’s yearly calendar. Our third and fifth graders will be visiting the Art Show during the school day. This year they have extended the evening viewing hours, which will be from six to nine o’clock to try to alleviate the overcrowding at this popular event.

This Saturday, April 5 is the district wide Odyssey of the Mind. Our school is sending eight teams. Ms. Walko is our advisor.

Karen Slater, a kindergarten teacher at Greenbrook, won the South Brunswick Teacher Recognition Award for our school. She will be honored at the May 12 board meeting.

Kindergarten Orientation is scheduled for May 13.

This Friday, April 4, Kids on the Block will be performing in two assemblies for our first through fourth graders. The first assembly will start at 9:15 and last until ten. The second assembly will be from 10:15 until 11.

April 23 will be Greenbrook’s Celebrating Uniqueness Day. Second and third graders will be meeting in small groups with people who have a wide variety of disabilities.

Our Lost and Found is overflowing! Please come see if you recognize anything!

The Parking Lot Letter was sent home in Friday folders this past week.

The Multiple Intelligences Workshop will be rescheduled for the fall.

The M/D Book Club last met on March 31.

Mrya Gildenberg, Cheryl Confalone, and Lisa Carneglia will be meeting soon to discuss the upcoming Authors’ Night. New this year – no more classroom sign up sheets! Registration will all be done online instead. Either School Site Council or the fifth grade will provide refreshments for the event. We’ll be giving out bookmarks and pencils as gifts. Pat will use Student Activity Funds to cover the cost of the pencils.

Cheryl is working on her flyer for the Healthy Choices Workshop. It will be going out around the beginning of May.
