JUST A REMINDERDue to our 6-day schedule, please send your child with sneakers every day.  Sneakers that tie or velcro are the best choice; no slip-ons, zippers or mocs are permitted.  Choose pants or shorts that fit and are not over sized.  Please encourage your girls not to wear dresses or skirts.

WELCOME BACK GREENBROOK GATORS! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE.

Dear Greenbrook Parents and Guardians:

We are happy to be teaching your children in Physical Education class and look forward to a year of fun and fitness with all of them.  We have listed a few guidelines below to ensure your children's safety in "gym" class.  It is important to take note of them, so that your child can fully participate in each class.  We ask that:

1.  Your children wear sneakers to school on gym days.  Keep in mind that they should be athletic sneakers, and not fashion ones such as sneakers with platform soles or heels, which are not stable enough for many of our activities.  Heelys are not permitted in gym.  Canvas sneakers may get wet on damp mornings when the dew is on the fields.  Also, while zippered sneakers are great for children in a hurry on school morning, they frequently get kicked off of feet and go flying through the air!  Please work with your children in teaching them to tie their shoes.  In the meantime, we will gladly see that sneakers get tied before class begins.

2.  Girls should not wear dresses or skirts on gym days.  While searing shorts under dresses mat take care of privacy concerns, there are safety concerns as well.  One example is that dresses and skirts tend to get caught in the wheels of scooters, and cause mishaps.  We want all of our students to be fully involved in all activities!

3.  Big, baggy clothes should be worn only on NON-GYM days.  Loose-waisted pants can be a major embarrassment or distraction if they start to fall down during and activity.

4.  Jewelry should not be worn on gym days.  Earrings, necklaces and bracelets may be pulled off in certain activities, causing injury to y our children and damage to the jewelry.  Rings may become lodged on jammed fingers, creating much dismay.

5.  Children should leave any toys in classroom, and not in their pockets.  Any distraction in gym class presents an opportunity for injury to occur.

6.  Lastly, children should not have gum or candy in gym class, either in their pockets or their mouths.  Again, it is a distraction in the pocket and a big safety concern when in the mouth.

We strive to make physical education class a positive experience for your children to nurture a lifelong desire for fun and fitness!  We thank you for your anticipated cooperation in following these guidelines.  If you have any questions please call us or email us at any time.

                                                      Sincerely,
                                                      Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Berk
