Our Pinwheels for Peace project was a HUGE success! They really brightened up the front of our school for a few days and reminded us what a great school community we have at Greenbrook. Hopefully we can keep this feeling going throughout the year!
Pictures of our installation on Sept. 19th are posted below! If you want to know more about Pinwheels for Peace, just click on this link:

Kindergarten: For our next project, we will be learning about shapes! Stay tuned to find out what we will be making?

Questions to ask at home: What kinds of lines do you know? What shapes do you know? Find them around the house!

Third Grade: We have started learning about Henri Matisse & have been really great observers as we draw our own still life pictures! So far we  have just used lines, but just wait until we add color!

Questions to ask at home: What is Contour Line Drawing? Practice really observing things and drawing them at home!

First Grade: For our first project we are looking at some of the work of Piet Mondrian. He made many paintings using squares and rectangles in the primary colors. We did a great job painting with the primary colors, and now we are adding some black lines to really make our colors stanad out!

Questions to ask at home: What are the primary colors? Who is the artist you are learning about?

Fourth Grade: Our first big project of the year involves a lady we see every day in art class... Mona Lisa!! We are making parodies ... silly versions of the famous painting. We are sending her on vacation & giving her a bit of a makeover. We can't wait to show them off on Artsonia & on our bulletin boards!

Questions to ask at home: Who painted the Mona Lisa? We saw a parody of her made by another artist... do you remember his name?

Second Grade: Ms. Pickowicz is teaching all about Pablo Picasso. We are making our own abstract self-portraits in the same style he did... and they are looking great!

Questions to ask at home: What is the name of the artist you are learning about? Is his art real or abstract?

Fifth Grade: Our next big project is all about US! We learned that writing can be a beautiful art form and are finding and creating different fonts to draw our names. We have homework due on October 8th where we need to find out the meaning of our names & list some words that describe us really well. Our projects are going to come out great!

Don't forget your Homework!!! It is due by October 8th!!!

Mrs. Silverman's Class: We are waiting for our salt-dough creations to dry so we can paint them! In the meantime, we had fun outside in the nice fall weather & got to draw on the sidewalk!

Mrs. Wasserman's Class: We are waiting for our salt-dough creations to dry so we can paint them! In the meantime, we had fun outside in the nice fall weather & got to draw on the sidewalk!
