Character Can Project

Biography Book Report Assignment

·      Read your biography book.  Use the organizer to take notes along the way.

·      Decorate the outside of a can (coffee can, large vegetable can, etc.) as the person you are reading about.  Use your creativity to decorate the can with construction paper, felt, fabric, fun foam, etc.  (see example)

·      Inside your can, include the following five index cards:

1.     Information about the person’s life (where they were born, their family, school, etc.)

2.   Experiences that made this person important

3.   Important characteristics

4.   Important contributions

5.   Things you admire about this person

Write at least 5 to 7 quality sentences on each card in paragraph form.  Your written work should have correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.  Be sure to write neatly, using cursive or printing.

Study Island
Study Island is a great way to extend student's learning into the home. All that's needed is a computer and internet connection. To use Study Island, log on to www.studyisland.com, and have your child enter their username and password. Make sure that your child uses pencil and paper when necessary. Study Island is also a great preparation tool for the NJ ASK exam in March.
