August 2017

Dear Fifth Grade Parents and Guardians,

I hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer! My name is Leslie Bock and I will be your child’s fifth grade teacher. I am very excited to return to school and begin a new year of social and academic growth with your children.

I am also looking forward to meeting and working with each of you to create a wonderful fifth grade experience for your child. The home-school connection is essential to your child’s achievement of fifth grade objectives. I hope we can begin that connection by meeting at the following beginning of the year events:

Student Open House - Tues, 9/5 from 4-6pm

Gator Gathering - Fri, 9/15 @ 6pm

Back to School Night - Mon, 9/18

This year, your child will be switching classrooms for science instruction. I will be teaching all social studies units to your son/daughter and Mrs. Abbey will be teaching your child all of the science units. This will prepare the students for the responsibility of switching classrooms and allow them to receive science and social studies instruction simultaneously throughout the year. More details will be covered about the process at Back to School Night.

Below you will find the link to the list of materials that was sent home in June, as well as the summer reading assignment. Please have your child bring these items on the first day of school. I have tried to include everything your child will need, but you may be asked to replenish a few items during the year.

The first day of school is on Thursday, September 7th. This is a full day and your child should bring all school materials, a healthy snack, and a book from home to read in class. I look forward to working with you to make this year a very rewarding experience for your child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at or leave a message with the office staff at Greenbrook.

Enjoy the final days of summer!
