Study Island |
Study Island will be available for all third grade students once the school year has begun. A notice will be sent home with the student's username and password when the account has been set up.
Study Island is a great way to extend student's learning into the home. All that's needed is a computer and internet connection. To use Study Island, log on to www.studyisland.com, and have your child enter their username and password. Make sure that your child uses pencil and paper when necessary. Study Island is also a great preparation tool for the NJ ASK3 exam in March.

Mrs. Shortreed's Message |
Hello All,
Today is Monday, November 10, 2008. Tomorrow will be day 6 and we will have music. Tomorrow is also Veteran’s Day. Have your child wear red, white and blue to celebrate. The rest of the week will be early release days due to conferences.
Homework today: 1. Read for 15 minutes (don’t forget to add to your reading log) 2. Math worksheet 3. Write your new “no excuse” words 5 times each. You may choose any 5 to write.
Spanish Homework Page 7 Label classroom objects in your booklet. You may color using crayon or colored pencil if you would like.
Today the kids finished up and revised some acrostic poems they wrote to celebrate Veteran’s Day. Look for them when you come in for your conference this week.
During math today the kids practiced writing numbers using money notation. They recognized that there are two ways to write money amounts. When you use one you do not use the other. They also discovered that when you use a dollar sign, you must use a decimal point.
We talked today during science about how animals all have different ways to protect themselves. Ask your child how a crayfish defends and protects itself.
