Snack Policy

As part of our science curriculum, the second grade spends a great deal of time teaching children about nutrition and making healthy choices.  Each morning we will take a break from our busy day for a light healthy snack such as a piece of fruit, crackers and cheese, pudding, carrots, celery or yogurt with a bottle of water or milk box to name just a few suggestions.  As part of snack time we will talk about nutrition information found on packages, graph the types of snack brought to school.  It’s a wonderful time of the day to give the kids a boast nutritionally, as well continue the learning.  If the children by mistake forget to bring in a healthy snack, we will ask that they enjoy that food during lunch-time, and ask if some can share with them today.  We really appreciate your support, and if you need suggestions for variety of choices begin by asking your child.  They will be seeing lots of suggestions during snack time and you can always contact your child’s teacher.  Due to allergies, please do not send in peanut items.
