Jaguar Class Info
Lunch
Our first graders will have recess from 12:30-1:00 and eat lunch from 1:00-1:30.  If your child is buying lunch, please send their check or lunch money in a tightly sealed envelope that has his/her first and last name written on it.  With younger children, it is preferable to deposit a check in their debit accounts instead of sending cash in daily.  Lunch calendars are sent home each month, but you can always see our lunch menu on Greenbrook's website.  Go to http://www.sbschools.org/schools/gb/index.php and click the link in the directory for Lunch Information.  I check with the children each day to see what they would like for lunch, so it is not necessary to send me a note.
Snack Time
Please send your child with a snack to eat in the morning.  Our lunch is late and eating a good snack will help sustain your child through the long morning.  Healthy, easy-to-eat snacks are best.
Birthdays
In first grade, we look forward to celebrating your child's special day in school!  In accordance with our school-wide birthday policy, we ask that you drop off celebratory treats in the office so that we can celebrate when it best fits in our schedule.  We would prefer to have healthier snacks as birthday treats, such as popsicles, pudding cups and fruit with water or 100% juice.
Dismissal
Dismissal time can be a little chaotic, but we are diligent about making sure that everyone gets where they belong at the end of the day.  If there is a change in your child's normal routine, please write me a note or call the office and leave a message with the secretary.  (Some examples of this would be if your child will be picked up by a different person, if your child will not be attending the afterschool program, or if s/he will not be taking the bus home.)
Sharing
In first grade, we will have sharing each day at Morning Meeting.  We consider this sharing time an opportunity for the children to practice their oral language skills and we ask that they do not bring items for sharing.  If there is something special that they would like to show their classmates, I ask that they let me know before they bring the item to school.
Toys
We ask that our first graders leave all toys at home.  At recess and choice time, we have lots of cool stuff for them to play with in class!
Please email me at leah.carson@sbschools.org if you have any questions, concerns or comments.  I check my email frequently so that is usually the quickest way to get a response.   If you would prefer not to send an email, please send a note in your child's folder.  I will try my best to get a response back to you the same day.
