**Here are some of the topics we will focus on in October**



Reading: Our first novel is underway and the children are reviewing key skills such as the three types of questions, story elements, and using context clues.
Writing: The children will publish their first piece of the year, a personal narrative. We will focus on paragraphs, leads, and other components of the writing rubric.
Math: We will continue our study of large numbers and place value. Also, we will review addition, subtraction, and measurement.
Science: The students will continue to explore ecosystems through hands-on projects and reading assignments.
Social Studies: We will begin our study of the Lenape Native Americans.
Spelling: New spelling words will be assigned every week.
