Saludos!
Dear Parent / Guardian:

Greetings!  I would like to extend a welcome to you and your child on his or her arrival to or continuation of studies at Brooks Crossing Elementary School.  My name is Senorita Gonzalez and I will be your child’s Spanish teacher.  I am eager to begin the exciting journey of learning this September as a staff member at the Brooks Crossing Elementary School.

Learning a foreign language is not only fun but will open a whole new world to your child.  Students with competence in a foreign language distinguish themselves in the college application process.  Employers increasingly seek out foreign language speakers and pay them higher salaries.  Your child may even develop a friendship with a recent Spanish-speaking immigrant, enriching two lives in the process.  I can tell you from my own experience of world travel and job experiences how beneficial knowing Spanish has been.

As a parent / guardian, you are your child’s greatest resource in the learning process.  One way in which you can assist your child is by asking your child each day what he or she learned in Spanish class.  Your help in practicing, reviewing, or helping your child with his or her homework is invaluable.  Equally, your encouragement is integral to your child’s anticipated success.

Please purchase a notebook and a pocket folder for your child, as there will be many handouts.   If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please feel free to contact me at Brooks Crossing Elementary School, 732-821-7478.  I can also be reached by e-mail at andrea.gonzalez@sbschools.org.  I thank you for your support throughout the school year.

Sincerely,

Andrea Gonzalez
