- Create A Card – Have your child make a card for a birthday, thank-you, get well, and other occasions. Keep colored paper, stickers, markers, and other writing materials available. Your child can write his/her own special message.
- Write Notes – Start by putting a note in your child’s lunchbox. Suggest that your child write a note and put it in Mom/Dad’s briefcase or lunchbox.
- Send A Postcard Or Letter - Have your child write to a relative or friend that lives far away.
- Weekly Calendar – Set up a weekly calendar with space for your child to write daily reminders of activities and special events.
- My Daily Journal – Have your child keep a daily journal.
- While You Were Away Journal – Have your child keep a journal and write whatthey did each day while a parent or relative as away on business, in the hospital, or on vacation (i.e. While You Were Away Dad book.
- Make Lists - Have your child write lists (i.e. his/her friends, “to do”, grocery list, etc.).
- Label Your Bedroom – Have your child use blank index cards. He/she can write one item per card until they have labeled everything in his/her room.
- Write Down Phone Messages
- Name Cards – Have your child make name cards for each place setting. Try it for a special event (birthday, Thanksgiving dinner, etc.).
- Write Menu - Have your child write a menu on a paper plate and fix the meal for dinner.
