Annual Budget and Board Election Annual school district elections are held on the third Tuesday in April. In 2010, the annual school election is Tuesday, April 20. Registered voters have the opportunity to vote on the school budget and select members of the nine-member Board of Education.
Information regarding South Brunswick school elections and the District’s proposed budget is discussed at Board of Education and Budget Committee meetings as well as published in local newspapers, District publications and posted at the bottom of this page.
Everyone at the South Brunswick Board of Education recognizes the importance of a strong home-school connection. We realize that much of our success is due to parent support. One way you can show your commitment to your child's education is by being a registered voter.
It is important for everyone who is eligible to vote, to register.
Voter Information Residents who are at least 18-years old, citizens of the United States and have lived in Middlesex County for at least 30 days may register to vote. Voter registration applications must be received by the Middlesex County Board of Elections 21 days prior to an election.
To be eligible to vote in the April 2010 School Budget/Election, you must register to vote by March 31.
Voter registration applications are available in the main office at each school and at the Board of Education Office, 231 Black Horse Lane. An application appears in the back of the 08-09 District calendar; just clip and mail to the address on the back of the form. Forms can also be obtained by contacting the Middlesex County Board of Elections, John F. Kennedy Square, Fourth Floor, New Brunswick, NJ 08901-1110, or by calling (732) 745-3471.

Vote by Mail In New Jersey, voters can now vote by mail-in ballot in any election. Voters no longer need a reason to vote by mail.
A voter may vote by mail by completing the Application for Vote by Mail Ballot (see below), and mailing the application to their County Clerk up to 7 days prior to the election. A voter may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3:00 p.m., the day before the election.
The County Clerk cannot accept faxed copies of an Absentee Ballot Application since an original signature is required.

2010-2011 Budget Information
Public Budget Meetings
The South Brunswick Board of Education's Budget Committee will hold two Public Budget Meetings in the coming weeks as it shapes the District's proposed spending plan for 2010-2011.
The Committee will meet on Wednesday, March 10 and Wednesday, March 24. Both meetings will begin at 7:30 p.m. The March 10 meeting will take place at the Board Office, 231 Black Horse Lane. The March 24 meeting will be held at South Brunswick High School (750 Ridge Road).
These meetings are open to the public and provide a forum for interested residents to learn about the School District's budget while the Committee discusses the different aspects of the proposed operational budget for 2010-2011 and the facts that will impact its development. All members of the public are invited to attend and participate in this important discussion.
Public Hearing on 2010-2011 Budget
A Public Hearing of the proposed 2010 – 2011 School Budget will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium of Crossroads North Middle School, 635 Georges Road, in Monmouth Junction. This meeting is scheduled during the School District’s Spring Break. The New Jersey Department of Education sets aside the same five day time period for all school districts and only recently released this information.
This important meeting is open to the public and provides residents with the opportunity to comment on the District's 2010 – 2011 budget before it heads to voters on Tuesday, April 20.
