Attendance Policy Regular attendance at school is important for the effective instruction of students. Unless otherwise excluded by school officials or absent due to illness or in recognition of a religious holiday, students are required by law to attend school on all days in which school is in session. Parents or guardians should plan vacations and trips that involve their child(ren) during summer recess and/or during other school breaks.

Parents or guardians who permit excessive, illegal absences are subject to truancy charges and fines. Excessive absences at any grade level could impede a student's ability to advance to another grade or participate in graduation. In the event of an absence, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to cal l the school when a child is going to be absent. The District's voicemail system is operative 24 hours a day so parents or guardians may place a call at any time.

When calling to report an absence, please give the child's full name, reason for absence and the date(s) of absence. It is District policy that any "un-notified absence" will result in a call from the school and will be classified as "unexcused." Please note that a student who is absent from school during the day may NOT participate in any after school or evening events.
