Frequently Asked Questions
How can I find out which schools my child will be attending throughout the years? All registration information is contained on our website. A listing of neighborhoods and the elementary school assignment can be viewed at http://www.sbschools.org/boe/general_information/parent_information/registration.php.
Please note middle school assignment follows the elementary school assignment. We are currently in the first year of a two-year realignment and a notation next to the neighborhood and elementary school assignment advises if the neighborhood is to be realigned for the 2006-2007 school year. Please also note that as our enrollment continues to grow, we may need to alter these assignments in the future.
I am a new parent in South Brunswick, whose child is not yet school age. What is the current birthdate cut-off and appropriate age for children to enter kindergarten? The South Brunswick Entrance Age Policy states that for the 2007 - 2008 school year and all school years therafter, students should attain the age of 5 by October 31, 2007 in order to enter our Kindergarten Program this school year. This Policy is the same for admission to First Grade (age of 6 by above-noted dates).
Does SB have a Pre-school program for children who are 4 years of age?The South Brunswick School District offers a Pre-School Disability Program for children ages three and four who have been evaluated by a Child Study Team and found to be eligible for Special Education and related services. As a resident of South Brunswick, is it possible to send my child to any school other than the one assigned to my neiborhood? if yes, what is the procedure?Sending a child to a school other than the assigned school is called Open Enrollment. An application of Open Enrollment is obtained from the school. The parent is asked to complete the application and submit it to the principal of the assigned school to be signed. The application is then forwarded to the principal of the school that the parent requests the child to be "open enrolled" for approval. Due to enrollment numbers, this request may not always be granted. However, if the request is granted, the parent is responsible for transporting the child to and from school. There are no exceptions to this rule.
What schools in the District currently have the "Blue Ribbon" designation? The following South Brunswick schools have been recognized as Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence:
Cambridge Elementary School
Constable Elementary School
Greenbrook Elementary School
Crossroads Middle Schools
South Brunswick High School
