Emergency Information Join our emergency information mailing list

In cases of inclement weather, it is the intent of the Superintendent to ensure the safety of all students and employees.

The Superintendent of Schools, the Business Administrator and the Director of Buildings and Grounds collaborate with South Brunswick Township Police Department and Department of Public Works when deciding whether to close school or operate under a 90-minute delay.

The best interest of all students is kept in mind during the decision-making process. District officials make every effort to make decisions about school closures or delayed-openings by 5:30 a.m.

South Brunswick Autodialer The South Brunswick "Automated Telephone Dialer Service" is a new automated approach that will enable us to alert families or their contact persons within minutes to changes in the regular school schedule due to emergencies (such as an unplanned, emergency early release) or inclement weather.

if you need to make changes to your family's Automated Dialer contact list, you must call your child's school and speak with the School Secretary who will make the requested changes. Please keep this in mind during the school year so all telephone numbers remain up-to-date.

Because the time to design a plan is prior to any emergency, we trust that you have made an emergency contingency plan for your children. This plan should be discussed with your children frequently. Should the District need to close quickly and early, all students, but particularly our youngest, will need to know what to do and where to go if no one is at home. (South Brunswick After-School Program subscribers: This program will endeavor to remain open during all emergencies. Any program site or time changes that occur due to an emergency will be immediately communicated to the affected parents.)

Now is the time also to make sure that all of your contact people know that you have placed them on the "call list" and are aware that they should let you know if/when they receive a call.

Notification is also still provided through the District Web Site, Viking Television Network, and the radio, however the Automated Telephone Dialer Service will be our first means of communication.

Radio Stations Notification is broadcast by local radio stations WCTC (1450 AM), WHWH (1350 AM), WMGQ (98.3 FM) and WPST (94.5 FM) between 6 and 8:30 a.m.

TV Stations Notification is broadcast on Comcast Cable Channel 28 (Viking Television Network), Channel 4 (NBC) and Channel 7 (ABC).

Automated Message The voice message at the Board of Education Office (732-297-7800) will be updated to reflect the current status of the District in an emergency. Please do not call the Transportation Department and/or township police for information.

District Website/Emergency E-mail A scrolling banner, located on the Home Page of the District Web site, www.sbschools.org, will also be updated with emergency information.

The District also offers E-mail notification about emergency closings or delays to subscribers. Other important notifications that call for parents/guardians to take action (i.e. school evacuation because of a power outage) may also be sent to subscribers of the E-mail notification system, if deemed necessary by the Administration.

Persons interested in receiving such notification can sign up by clicking here.

Delayed Opening Schedule When the District operates under a 90-minute delay, bus pick-ups will be 90 minutes later than normal pick-up times. The before-school music program at Crossroads Middle School is automatically cancelled when the District operates under a delayed-opening schedule.
