||South Brunswick Township is a large, rural-residential community encompassing nearly
42-square miles in southern Middlesex County.
The township is one of the fastest growing communities in central New Jersey and is
located between New York City and Philadelphia, making it an attractive area for families
to relocate. For approximately 30 years, the township’s population has grown
considerably. Today, more than 40,000 residents call South Brunswick their home.
As the township continues to grow, the School District is experiencing a similar trend. In
1991, the District’s enrollment was just under 4,000 students. At the start of the 2010-2011 school year, approximately 9,100 students were enrolled in the
District’s school communities, which include nine elementary schools for students in
Grades K-5, a two-campus middle school for students in Grades 6-8 and a high school for
students attending Grades 9-12.
Although the District has grown in size, it has maintained its status as one of the finest public school systems in New Jersey. It has been repeatedly recognized for its superior and innovative academic programs, dedicated and talented teaching staff, extensive co-curricular and athletic programs and support services for students and their families.
In January 2010, the District was monitored as part of the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (NJQSAC) which is the State Department of Education’s evaluation system for public school districts. Their system focused on monitoring and evaluating the district in five key components that, based on research, have been identified to be key factors in effective school districts: governance, instruction and program, personnel, fiscal management and operations. The District was proud to receive the uppermost ranking of "High Performing School District." In addition, the County Superintendent labeled the District as a "lighthouse district" for the State of New Jersey.
